Deeply saddened, and shocked by the assassination of Hrant Dink - a prominent journalist, remarkable person and a true Armenian, fighting for the good of his people and those of Turkey - the BAA members created an initiative group, and together with representatives of other youth NGOs and individuals, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the municipality of Yerevan organized a rally at the Freedom Square to commemorate Hrant Dink.

Considering that the organization of the event lasted only 2 days, the turnout of the people to the Freedom Square, was much greater than we expected - it was estimated that somewhere around 10 thousand people came to pay their tribute to Hrant Dink.

May his work as well as his death start a new era of self-actualization of the Turkish people, re-assessment of their history, and willingness to cleanse it. May us, the Armenians, be proud to born such men, and cherish them in our memories forever.

We want to thank you all those who helped us in organizing this event and those who attended it. Let us hope that the next time we organize something of this scale, will be a joyful event.
