The British Alumni Association (BAA) of Armenia is a non-for-profit, membership-based organization that seeks to leverage the skills and experience of young Armenian specialists from varied academic and professional backgrounds to speed economic, political and social development in Armenia.
As the name suggests, all BAA members have the shared experience of having completed academic work in the universities or other educational institutions of the United Kingdom. BAA's goal is to assist these returning professionals to best utilize their newly gained skills for the benefit of all Armenia.
Established in spring 2001, BAA has since grown to the only networking organisation for alumni of British universities and has become the biggest alumni association operating in Armenia with currently over 150 members, which is the absolute majority of all the Armenians that have studied in the UK since Armenia’s independence in 1991.

BAA aims to be the primary non-profit body that represents the interests of
individuals who have studied in Britain as well as those who wish to study
there in the future. BAA provides thought leadership and consultancy in
the areas of educational, cultural and economic development of Armenia,
aiming to be the premier association in the country in membership and
service quality.
Based on the varied skills and interests of its members, BAA has set itself a broad remit of social objectives, including:
-
Human Rights & Regional Integration
-
Poverty Alleviation & Migration Issues
-
Democratisation & Civic Education
-
Public Administration & Anti-Corruption Activities
-
Business Promotion & Information Technologies
-
Environmental Protection
The BAA serves the following constituencies:

1. Armenian Graduates of British Universities: by providing information,
assistance and networking among the BAA members to enhance their social
and professional lives;
2. Armenian citizens that wish to study in British universities: by providing
informal counseling and information to the prospective students and
all kinds of available assistance to qualified needy students;
3. Business community of Armenia and international organizations operating
in the country: by providing a large database of highly skilled Armenian
professionals with Western academic background and extensive local and
international business experience;
4. National and regional governments of Armenia: by providing assistance
and expertise for implementation of donor-funded development programs
in the regions of the country.

A key area in which the BAA has added value is focusing its support on
and highlighting the needs of underserved populations throughout Armenia
and the region of Caucasus. Over the past years BAA has had a number
of critical successes in this area, including implementing important
development and educational projects in the Tavush, Gegharkunik, Armavir,
Kotayk, Aragatsotn regions of Armenia and Samtskhe-Javakheti Region
of neighboring Georgia. These projects have specifically focused on
improving conditions for Armenian populations in previously underserved
areas.
